Assistant Manager, Sourcing Development, Apparel

ABOUT YOUR ROLE: 
  • You will be managing a team of sourcing developers to ensure sustainable and effective vendor relationships. 
  • Working with vendor partners to ensure that products are created and delivered that meet both the product and sustainability brand strategies.  
  • You will work with your manager to support the sourcing strategy initiatives that have been created with your partners in the hub team and play a supporting role at recommending solutions for either gaps in the vendor base or opportunities to drive more innovative product solutions. 
 
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE: 
(but not limited to) 
  • Working with your team to monitor and report on the development calendar cycle, ensuring key deadlines are being met for prototype and sample development. 
  • Guide the team on a regular basis to ensure work plans are created for them, to support the development calendar timelines and escalate issues where blockages may occur. 
  • Support your manager with the evaluation of vendors, to ensure the right product is being placed with the vendor with the appropriate capability 
  • Enhancing and advocating for vendors’ capabilities, aligning use of new technologies, to drive innovation of process and product  
  • Support the management of vendor partnerships, ensuring they meet the agreed performance targets 
  • Provide data analysis to support the vendor management and KPI process as agreed with the hub 
  • Collaborate with all ‘in country’ internal stakeholders across production, Global Material Supply, Compliance, Responsible Sourcing, Product Stewardship, Logistics and Quality teams to ensure the alignment on the KPIs and achieving the goals that have been set 
  • Support all associates in the team, to ensure they create and drive their individual development plans – and develop a regular cadence of review.   
  • Challenge the status quo by adopting a creative and curious style that can drive continuous improvement 
  • Participate in company-wide initiatives to promote VF purpose activation and to improve VF Asia Product Supply systems and processes. 
  • Foster and role model a culture of inclusion, candor and trust

WHAT WE WILL BE LOOKING FOR IN YOU: 
  • Knowledge of apparel with an interest and passion for product   
  • Proven experience in development of knitted and woven apparel and in managing a diverse product collection. 
  • You will be coaching and developing your team, providing timely constructive feedback enabling them to excel and realize their potential. 
  • Leadership experience in managing multi-cultural teams and ability to influence stakeholders 
  • Understanding of product creation and an exposure to digital product creation platforms will be an advantage.  
  • Drive and passion to make a difference, presenting a growth mindset that role models positivity and curiosity to your team and peers. 
  • Executive presence  – you will have the confidence to speak up and express your views with authenticity and supporting data, to gain consensus 
  • Be an advocate of change initiated by leaders, by role modelling and assisting team members to embed the changes needed.

EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE 
  • Academic Degree, Textile or related field preferred. OR equivalent years of experience in working within the textile and apparel/ footwear  industry    
  • Working Experience 3-5 years of industry experience 
  • Minimum Supervisory Experience 2 to 3 years  
  • Language Proficiency: Good communication skills in English. Local language proficiency will be an advantage. 
  • Exposure to digital platforms for developing product and driving process efficiency will be a huge advantage
